Analysing recipes using NLP to raise awareness of the carbon footprint of food
The E.Care project focussed on developing NLP methods for estimating the carbon footprint of dishes based on their ingredients and for suggesting substitutes for high-carbon ingredients. Outputs of this project include: a knowledge base containing information on the greenhouse gas emissions (GHGE) of food items, application programming interfaces (APIs) to the above-mentioned NLP methods and a web browser (Chrome) plugin that allows users to instantaneously analyse the carbon footprint of recipes based on ingredients.
