About
Yizheng Sun is a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Manchester. His research focuses on large language models (LLMs), with particular interests in multi-modal learning and computational efficiency. He is motivated by the challenge of making advanced AI systems more resource-efficient without sacrificing performance, an area that has wide-ranging implications for the scalability and accessibility of next-generation language and vision models.
Yizheng completed his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Manchester in 2023, where he developed a foundation in machine learning, natural language processing, and deep learning. Building on this background, his doctoral research explores novel methods for token pruning, compression, and optimization in multi-modal large language models, aiming to reduce computational overhead while maintaining robust performance across diverse benchmarks.
Beyond his core research, Yizheng is interested in the broader impact of efficient AI, including its potential to lower environmental costs, democratise access to advanced models, and enable new applications in resource-constrained settings.
